Zukin Realty Move-Out Checklist: Important Information for Tenants
Updated 6/25/2026 – If your lease with Zukin Realty is ending soon, please review the following move-out requirements. These guidelines can help prevent delays in processing your security deposit and avoid unnecessary charges.
Final Rent Payment
Your security deposit cannot be applied toward your final month’s rent. Full rent payment is required through the end of your lease term.
If you are enrolled in automatic payments, remember to cancel your autopay after your final rent payment.
Security Deposit Return
Security deposits are mailed to the lease spokesperson within 30 days after the lease expiration date.
The spokesperson must provide Zukin Realty with a forwarding address before moving out. Not providing one may delay the return of your security deposit.
Wall Repairs
Tenants are responsible for repairing minor wall damage before vacating the property.
Trash Removal
All trash and personal belongings must be removed from the apartment and surrounding property before move-out.
Items left inside the unit, outside the building, or by dumpsters may incur removal charges include items such as:
- Mattresses
- Couches
- Dressers
- Tables
- Large furniture
- Any item that does not fit inside the designated trash containers
Contact our office if you need assistance disposing of bulk items.
Utility Requirements
All utilities must remain active through the final day of your lease.
When scheduling utility disconnections with providers such as PECO, select a shutoff date after your lease expiration. Disconnecting too early may interfere with final inspections.
Carpet Cleaning
If your lease requires carpet cleaning, all carpeted areas must be professionally cleaned before move-out.
Tenants must provide a receipt as proof of service. Without a receipt, a carpet cleaning charge may be deducted from the security deposit. The current charge is $150 per carpeted room.
Cable and Internet Equipment
Remove all cable boxes, routers, modems, and other provider-owned equipment before vacating the property.
Do not leave equipment behind.
Mail Forwarding
Submit a forwarding request with the United States Postal Service before moving out.
Remember to update your address with:
- Banks
- Employers
- Insurance providers
- Subscription services
- Online retailers
- Any other organizations that regularly send mail
Move-Out Walkthrough
Once the property is completely vacant and ready for inspection, tenants should schedule a move-out walkthrough with our maintenance department.
The walkthrough must be completed before the lease termination date and time.
If a walkthrough is not scheduled, Zukin Realty will conduct an inspection after 11:00 a.m. on the final day of the lease.
Leaving Furniture Behind
Do not leave furniture or personal property behind without prior approval from Zukin Realty.
In some cases, incoming tenants may be interested in keeping certain items. Contact our office before move-out to discuss available options.
Unauthorized furniture left at the property may result in removal charges.
