Updated October 31, 2023 – Christmas is a time for family fun and community festivities. Over the past few years, the COVID pandemic had put a damper on many of West Chester’s favorite holiday activities. This year things will start to return to normal, at least in a few of the more festive ways. Residents throughout the West Chester, PA area are encouraged to come together to celebrate the holiday season. Christmas is coming back, bigger and brighter than ever!
West Chester’s Holiday Spirit Is Back
Starting in mid-November and running through early January, residents will be able to take part in many community events meant for every member of the family to enjoy! For the past three years, West Chester residents have had to celebrate the holidays in their own homes. This year, the community is bringing back everyone’s favorite holiday traditions!

The West Chester Christmas Parade 2023
The West Chester Christmas Parade is back. Immediately after the tree lighting ceremony on Friday, December 1st at 6:30 pm, the parade will start. The parade will start at the corner of Market and New Streets at 7 pm. Floats from many of the area’s most creative artists and designers and even a few of the area’s best marching bands will be present. The parade and other festivities will end around 8:30 pm.
Lights Up!
Chester County Hospital Lights Up Holiday Weekends will be in full force throughout West Chester. 2023 is the third year for this breathtaking event. Chester County Hospital is the primary sponsor, but local sponsorships are available to local businesses who want to add to the festivities. By lighting up downtown West Chester, the community hopes to encourage visitors from around the area to shop locally and enjoy spending time with family and friends.

Enjoy the Caroling Downtown
Every Friday and Saturday starting on November 25th and ending on December 17th, The West Chester Borough Balladeer Carolers will be downtown sharing the most beloved songs of the season. In Victorian dress, they will ring in the holiday season wandering through the downtown area. The carolers will be sponsored by the West Chester Downtown Federation.
The Christmas season is what many people look forward to throughout the rest of the year. It is the season of perpetual hope where we can get a glimpse of all the things that are right in our world. Come and join the celebration, as the residents of West Chester, Pennsylvania share their wishes of joy and well-being with visitors who choose to attend the festivities.
