Updated November 5, 2024 – Christmas is a time for family fun and community festivities. And, the West Chester Annual Tree Lighting & Hometown Christmas Parade is easily one of the most anticipated events of the year in Chester County. Each year, between 25,000 and 35,000 people attend the parade. The streets are packed with marching bands, floats, and much anticipated arrival of Santa Claus.
West Chester’s Holiday Spirit Is Back
Starting in mid-November and running through early January, residents will be able to take part in many community events meant for every member of the family to enjoy!Â

The West Chester Christmas Parade 2024
The West Chester Christmas Parade is back. Immediately after the tree lighting ceremony on Friday, December 6th at 6:30 pm, the parade will start. The parade will start at the corner of Market and New Streets at 7 pm. Floats from many of the area’s most creative artists and designers and even a few of the area’s best marching bands will be present. The parade and other festivities will end around 8:30 pm.
Lights Up!
Chester County Hospital Lights Up Holiday Weekends will be in full force throughout West Chester. 2024 is the fourth year for this breathtaking event. Chester County Hospital is the primary sponsor, but local sponsorships are available to local businesses who want to add to the festivities. By lighting up downtown West Chester, the community hopes to encourage visitors from around the area to shop locally and enjoy spending time with family and friends.

Enjoy the Caroling Downtown
Every Friday and Saturday starting on November 29 and ending on December 21, The West Chester Borough Balladeer Carolers will be downtown sharing the most beloved songs of the season. In Victorian dress, they will ring in the holiday season wandering through the downtown area. The carolers will be sponsored by the West Chester Downtown Federation.
The Christmas season is what many people look forward to throughout the rest of the year. It is the season of perpetual hope where we can get a glimpse of all the things that are right in our world. Come and join the celebration, as the residents of West Chester, Pennsylvania share their wishes of joy and well-being with visitors who choose to attend the festivities.
